About the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS)

The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) is dedicated to establishing, maintaining, and managing Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and Centres of Excellence for Sports across the country. Its primary aim is to provide quality upper-primary, secondary, and senior-secondary education to Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) students in tribal-dominated areas.

Key objectives of NESTS include:

• Establishing and managing EMRS and Centres of Excellence for Sports.

• Promoting extracurricular activities to ensure all-round development of ST and PVTG students.

• Managing infrastructure development, provision of facilities, hiring of human resources, and information dissemination for effective EMRS expansion.

Objective of the Internship Programme

The NESTS Internship Programme aims to provide students with hands-on experience and professional development opportunities by actively participating in operational activities across various verticals such as administration, finance, recruitment, academics, construction, and legal programs at EMRS.

Eligibility Criteria for NESTS Internship 2025

The internship programme is open to:

• All Indian students studying in India or abroad.

• Students who have completed their graduation degree or are pursuing post-graduation/PG Diploma/advanced academic degrees.

• Students in their third/final year can also apply.

• Age Limit: The candidate must not exceed 30 years at the time of application.

Additionally, students or scholars interested in conducting pilot projects or micro-studies related to ongoing activities of NESTS are encouraged to apply.

Duration of the Internship

The short-term internship usually lasts between one to two months. Successful completion of this duration is necessary to be eligible for the experience certificate.

Note: Only two interns at a time will be accommodated in this programme.

Selection Process

• Interested candidates must apply through the designated email: internship.nests@gmail.com

• Applications are accepted from 1st to 10th of every month in the prescribed format (Annexure-I).

• A screening committee at NESTS will scrutinize applications, and shortlisted candidates will be notified via email.

Stipend and Benefits

Selected interns will receive:

• A stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month.

• Two leaves during the internship period.

• Reimbursement of travel costs for official tours (Deluxe/AC Bus/3-Tier AC Train) and DA applicable to Level 5 as per existing Government of India rules.

• An experience certificate upon successful completion of the programme.

No other expenses will be payable.

Key Activities for Interns

Interns will be engaged in activities aimed at:

• Understanding NESTS policies and initiatives.

• Working across verticals such as Administration, Finance & Auditing, Data Collection and Analysis, Academics & Training, Recruitment, Construction, and Legal Support.

• Contributing to policy formulation by providing inputs in the form of empirical analysis, policy papers, and briefings.

• Bridging information gaps related to tribal education at the school level.

Interns will also get the opportunity to interact with NESTS officials, state governments, and other stakeholders involved in implementing the EMRS Scheme.

Completion and Certification

Interns must complete their assigned projects and submit/present their reports on time. In case of non-performance or non-compliance, NESTS reserves the right to terminate the internship by issuing a notice.

Upon successful completion, interns will receive an experience certificate from NESTS.
